Do It Even If It's Just You

I did two things last night - One I haven't done in a long time. I tried yoga for the very first time, and I went by myself. A 90s R&B themed yoga class. Sports bra and all.

No husband, no kids, no "let me see if somebody wanna go with me." Just me, deciding I wanted to do something, and actually doing it.

I ain't gon lie, it felt weird walking in there solo at first. That lil voice was like "everybodys gonna be looking at you." But nah. Everybody was just there for the same reason I was — trying to feel good in they own body for an hour. I ended up meeting some dope Black women in that class too, the kind of energy where you leave feeling like you made friends without even trying.

And it hit me halfway through a stretch: this is what it feel like to show up for myself again. Not mom-Brea, not work-Brea, not "who need something from me today" Brea. Just Brea.

Here's the part I gotta be honest about though — my body flared up BAD today. Endometriosis and Fibromiolayga don't play, and my body let me know it wasn't used to that kind of movement no more. But even with the flare, I'd do it again tomorrow if I could. It was worth it. I'm just gon be smarter next time — hydrate more, stretch different, have my flare relief ready to go instead of reacting after the fact.

That's the whole point I wanna make with this post: doing something for you doesn't mean it has to be easy, convenient, or come with zero consequences. Sometimes it cost you a little discomfort. Sometimes it means going alone because nobody else could make it work that day. Do it anyway.

• Wanna see a movie and nobody wanna go? Go by yourself. • Wanna work out but everybody's schedule conflicts? Go alone. • Wanna sit down and eat a real lunch? Take the 20 minutes. • Wanna walk and clear your head? Just go.

Be smart about it — listen to your body, plan for what you know might happen, don't be reckless. But don't let "nobody to do it with" stop you.

And honestly, looking back at this whole year, I've shown up for myself in ways I never thought I could — despite everything personal that's happened. Two trips, markets by myself, and now this first-ever solo yoga class. I didn't wait for life to be easy before I decided to live it.

So that's your homework: think of one thing you been wanting to do and just go do it. Stop waiting on company. Stop waiting on the "right time."

Love Always,
