Soft Life? I Have Three Kids. I’ll Settle for a "Quiet Minute." 💅🏾🧩🧒🏾

If you see me on social media looking like I’ve got it all together, just know there is a 99% chance there’s a pile of laundry and a stray nugget just out of frame.
I love the "Soft Life" aesthetic—the silk robes, the slow mornings, the peace. But I’m a Craftin’ Ass Blk Grl with a business to run and a household that is anything but quiet. My life isn't "soft"; it’s high-energy, high-functioning, and high-key loud.
The "Peace" is a Group Effort
Trying to find "ease" as a Black woman entrepreneur is one thing. Doing it with my crew is another:
The 2-Year-Old Tornado: He’s at that age where "Soft Life" to him means "How soft is this carpet if I pour my juice on it?" He’s the reason I have to hide my glitter like it’s contraband.
The 12-Year-Old Vibe-Check: My oldest son is officially in that pre-teen zone. He’s cool, he’s helpful, but he’s also a reminder that I’m "cringe" and that his appetite is growing faster than my profit margins.
My 10-Year-Old Heart: My daughter is autistic, which means our "Soft Life" actually has a schedule. Her needs keep me grounded, but they also mean my "hustle" has to be flexible. When she needs a little extra mama-time, the Cricut has to wait. This is a new journey for us. We're learning as we go. Her world is beautiful, but it requires a level of patience that "hustle culture" doesn't always account for.
The Reality of the "Soft Hustle"
As a mom to this diverse tribe, I’ve realized that I can’t subscribe to the "grind until you crash" lifestyle, but I also can’t spend all day in a spa.
My version of the Soft Life is intentional chaos. It’s finding the silence in the 11:00 PM crafting sessions when the kids are finally dreaming - or at least in beds. It’s the "Sass" I keep in my brand so I don't lose my mind in my motherhood. It’s realizing that being a business owner and a Mom means I’m a superhero—even if my cape is covered in glitter and toddler snacks.
To My Tribe...
I know I’m not the only one out here trying to build an empire while managing IEP meetings, puberty, and potty training all at once.
Let’s be real in the comments: How are you really doing? Which kid is currently winning the "testing mama’s patience" award today?
Honestly, I think our dog took home the award tonight 😫
Chaos is callin
Love Always,
Your Favorite Craftin Ass Blk Grl ✨️ 🫶🏿
